The idea behind electric underfloor heating is very much like in essence to how a basic electric storage heater works. Whereas, electric storage heaters work by storing heat insulated in water or bricks, underfloor heating will generate heat through the heating blanket being placed in the solid floor and the mass of the floor will act as the heating body. This can be supplimented by specialist tiling designed to help spread the warmth.
